White Sands National Monument, located in south central New Mexico is the worlds largest gypsum dune field. The sand is as white as snow and seems to go on infinitely. This spectacular desert is forever changing by the wind, as it carries away footsteps and the most active dunes move northeast at the rate of 30' per year.
